Art Deco Society of New York
From 2017-2021, I served as the teaching artist and curator of public programs at the Art Deco Society of New York. This involved managing all aspects of the K-12 education program, Documenting Deco, in addition to the community program, Telling Art Deco Stories. These programs shifted to virtual delivery for 2020-2021 and involved video scripting, streaming, post-production, and distribution.
As a contractor, I designed and implemented K-12 programming at a variety of public schools in Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, and the Bronx, and, as of 2020, via pre-recorded videos. Doing so has required making classroom visits, coordinating a city-wide photography contest, and leading field trips at Rockefeller Center, the Chrysler Building, the Brooklyn Museum, and other sites. I also produced events at the Bronx Museum of the Arts, Brooklyn Historical Society, Brooklyn Central Library, Queens Central Library, and elsewhere. Collaborators have included architectural historians Matt Postal and Anthony W. Robins, as well as non-profit partners, like Friends of the Upper East Side Historic Districts. These events have been featured in outlets such as The New York Times and Sunnyside Post.
